THEIRS (Smithton)
October 14, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
The event is called THEIRS, which stands for; Talk, Hear & Help, Educate, Inform, Refer and Support. For the first THEIRS event, the focus will be on Suicide Awareness.
The purpose of these nights is to equip community members, parents, guardians, and individuals to look out for signs of someone struggling, what to do/say and where to seek further help.
Because the topic subject is quite confronting some people may experience multiple emotions or need to take a “break”. There will be psychologists present for the evening to help anyone who may need it; this is including volunteers. First responder stalls will be there on the night to better support the “refer” stage (such as headspace, Richmond, mental health council, e.g.).
THEIRS Event will see five unique perspectives from specialists, victim-survivors or advocates and health professionals on a panel sharing their knowledge and experience with the selected topic. These people will be known members among the community and will provided a positive impact in the way they present their talks to encourage conversations.
Doors open 6:30pm.
