Mindful Walk & Nature Journalling
October 16 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Celebrate Mental Health Week with us and take some time out at one of our favourite places in Hobart – the saltmarsh at Lauderdale (Racecourse Flats).
This event is for any of you who would like to take a break and spend time outside in nature. We have two great activities planned – a mindful walk and a nature journalling session.
We’ll start with a mindful walk led by Sandy King, which will take us up the Tangara Trail on flat ground, and last for about 30 minutes. When we get back to our starting point, enjoy some complimentary morning tea with us, before we get into a Nature Journalling session with artist Tanya Scharaschkin.
Nature journalling is “your response to nature”. It includes the practice of drawing or writing in response to your observations and feelings of nature. It helps you notice details in nature while slowing down and giving yourself time to relax and reflect.
No drawing or journalling experience or skills required.
Dr Tanya Scharaschkin will give you an overview of nature journalling and provide different options on how to get started and what to focus on. You will be guided through a range of activities to get you observing, drawing and writing about nature, including some simple techniques for reflecting and relaxing.
Appropriate for children 12 years and older; must be accompanied by a participating adult. Nature journalling is a quiet, meditative process.
***Please note we require all participants to wear long-sleeve pants, a long-sleeve shirt, fully enclosed shoes and a hat.***
