SUMMARY:Talking Totem Posts
DESCRIPTION:We propose to construct six (6) totem posts through a community art project thus engaging the greater King Island Community to ‘open up’ and talk about mental health and what their interpretation of Awareness\, Connection and Belonging is. \nThe poles will be base painted with a coat of orange paint and our Mental Health Week event will be held on the 13th October with fun\, food and music and allowing the community to write\, or paint their feelings associated around the theme words on the orange totem poles. \nThese poles will stand tall\, be a blank canvas to start with and as they evolve will create thought\, discussion and finally a visual remembrance of a special event.

SUMMARY:2021 Community Dog Walk
DESCRIPTION:Come along and join us this Mental Health Week for our 2nd Annual Dog Walk. Take a stroll in the Montrose Foreshore Community Park with us (with your dog or without)\, followed by a community BBQ. Let’s celebrate our four legged friends and the\nsupport and unconditional love they give us. \nThe Mental Health Week theme this year is Awareness\, Belonging\, Connection. \nIndividually\, as a member of a family or a member of the community\, we should all have an AWARENESS of mental health issues and an understanding of the need of BELONGING in order that people in our community can strengthen their CONNECTIONS. \nIn this unusual time\, with the complications of COVID19\, these three words have even greater meaning to us all\, we need to keep our community strong and we do this better together. \nJoin us for this FREE Community Dog Walk event\, supporting the mental health of all Tasmanians. \nThis is a free event but we would appreciate your RSVP for catering purposes: call 6169 0605 by Friday 1 October. \nRegistration is essential – you can bring your form with you or register on the day.
