SUMMARY:Online Creative Art Exhibition: We all have role to play in fostering each others creative spirit
DESCRIPTION:We will be launching an online Creative Art Exhibition that showcases the amazing work our clients have produced in painting\, ceramics and creative writing. The exhibition will be available for the month of October. The theme ”We all have a role to play” is evident in the support and nurturing apparent in the classes where participants learn from each other and grow from the support and encouragement they gain\, even more so than from the facilitator at times. Clients barracking for each other is infectious.\nAs an organisation we have reflected on the role we play and continue to embrace the notion that we all struggle at times with mental health challenges. Reducing stigma about mental health continues to be our goal. Our recent promotion of “We’re all Mental” ties in with the role we all have to play in checking on each other and our clients. Promoting utilizing our creative side to connect and provide a therapeutic outlet is one simple way to show it doesn’t matter who you are we all have a role to play in fostering well being.

SUMMARY:Film Night at Star Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Community Response to Eliminating Suicide (CORES) is a community based program which educates members of the local community on how to intervene when they encounter someone who they believe may be suicidal. CORES have partnered with Star Theatre during October to acknowledge Mental Health week and to bring you a thought provoking documentary on suicide awareness. The Girl On The Bridge (136 minutes) is produced in New Zealand and is a confronting film featuring Jazz Thornton\, that provides a glimpse into a world that few of us comprehend and a response to our collective anguish about the suicide crisis in our communities and our desire to “do something”! \nArrive early to purchase a drink and snack from the bar and take some time to network prior to the film.\nThere will be a short introduction from Sharon Jones\, Executive Officer at CORES\, Tasmania\, and the film screening will commence at 6.30pm. \nCheck out Star Theatre website for further information about the film and to book your ticket. \nPlease note: This film is rated M and includes suicide themes and coarse language.
