DESCRIPTION:Supporting Tasmanians experiencing social isolation as a result of mental ill health\, the MATES program celebrates 25 years during Mental Health Week and we invite you to join us. \nDelivered by Australian Red Cross and funded by the Tasmanian Government\, the MATES program supports socially isolated Tasmanian’s who experience mental ill health\, to increase social connectedness and reconnect with their community. Delivered statewide\, volunteers provide friendship and support to their MATE through tailored social contacts and engagements to increase social connections. \nJoin us as we celebrate 25 years of the MATES program \nGuest speaker\, comedian and mental health advocate Brittany Szlezak.\nHear about the inception and history of the MATES program from one of its very first coordinators Susan Sherrin.\nHear from our volunteers about the amazing benefits of volunteering in the MATES program\nEnjoy nibbles and a slice of our 25 year anniversary cake and relax in your chair for the screening of the Australian Comedy movie “Cosi”.
